ABSTRACT

Addrenal tumors are common, and represent a diverse group of neoplasms that can be divided into four separate categories, each with a different prognosis, diagnostic workup, and recommended treatment. These four categories include benign adenomas, metastases to the adrenal, primary adrenal cortical carcinoma, and biochemically active adrenal tumors. Radiofrequency (RF) ablation is a technique that uses alternating current to generate localized heat and induce tissue necrosis. This article describes the technique and potential role of RF ablation to treat adrenal neoplasms. The precise role of RF ablation in treatment of adrenal tumors depends on the histology and patient's comorbid conditions.
